Dog Rescue recovery after Xena Letchworth

Dog Xena's JESSICA Rolison is on the road to recovery after a daring rescue saved the pit bull Sunday at Letchworth State Park.

Before Xena Rolison got as a six-week old pup about a year.  He said that the two are inseparable since then.  But the Weekend changed when the Monroe Community College student went home to mount Morris and lost the Xena in the most appalling way.

"My shaking, unable can't stand him, screaming," said Rolison as recalled the events that led to their separation.  Rolison had received Xena in the park for some time.  The pit bull was on the leash, but was forced out after the festive period some deer.  Clearance on the other side of the fence, inches from a steep gorge.  "The two steps and couldn't see, was ... Once lost, "said Rolison.

XENA had fallen 350 feet into the Gorge, and by nightfall nears, a rescue effort will have to wait for morning.  Rolison is called friend Mike spoons, who remained with her until the Park closes.  "We cried out her name and it will repeat through the whole party, and then suddenly we hear the cry and will keep talking to this going as Xena, mommy, mommy's right here," said Rolison.

During a sleepless night, night Rolison wondered whether Xena will only survive in the cold.  "Some told me, Jessica is going to be alright, dogs outside all the time, others were like you should expect the worst," said Rolison.

When Rolison returned to park Sunday morning to witness a miracle.  XENA was raised for safety by a rescue team.  "Look in my face a little baby, and man this species was once my baby," said Rolison recalling when he saw the first Xena. To risking his life and go down and save my dog is my world. "

XENA, who count about 60 pounds, suffered a collapsed lung and badly broken leg.  This was the veterinary experts of Rochester to examine.  "I think it was a very lucky dog in respect of the amount of damage that could have been," said Dr. Tom Linnenbrink, who is optimistic about the prognosis.  "Overall, this is very nice, and stabilized should make a full recovery."

That is good news for the Xena and gratitude mommy.  "This just look at me, look at me, and it was so nice to see it live," said Rolison.  XENA would undergo surgery the next day or two to repair the broken leg, and hopefully return home in about a week.  His friends already are planning a Rolison fundraiser to help pay for medical bills, Xena.
